Robi Mitch – “Distant Sun”

/

Touting a chilled-out, nocturnal vibe that consumes, “Distant Sun” is a new track from Robi Mitch. The Bristol (UK)-based artist released two versions of the track, one recorded in Taipei with Taiwanese producer Yuchain Wang and the other recorded in Robi’s basement studio with bassist Liam “Leroy” Owen and drummer Christophe Blanc. The Taipei version is mellow and restrained, though touting an unforgettably soulful presence and a multitude of memorable production flourishes, like the creeping keys around the one-minute mark, acoustical backing addition around 01:55, and the ensuing hooky vocal section. The track’s Bristol version adds some groove and effervescence, especially with the whirring keys past the two-minute mark. Regardless of the version you’re listening to, “Distant Sun” shows some exemplary songwriting and production.

“Distant Sun” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of April 2020’ Spotify playlist.
