parking lot – “lately”

/

The second single from Los Angeles-based act parking lot, “lately” shows a vibe fit for nighttime cruising. A woozy synth and distant vocals establish a soundscape that’s lush yet open to movement, evident by the shards of guitars emerging past the one-minute mark and the paired vocal pleas. There’s a well-developed balance between these vocals, lo-fi percussion, synth tones, and guitar; all parts work without a hitch. Atmospheric with a yearning melodic pull, “lately” shows a project well worth following.

“The track is about the day to day life in a relationship and how it plays out during the early summer in LA,” the artist says.

“lately” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of May 2020’ Spotify playlist.
