Nick Waters – “Windy Blue”

//

“Windy Blue” is the latest from Nick Waters, previously impressing with the track “4AM Spotlight” last year. “Windy Blue” shows a bouncier, key-laden charm — evoking a sense of nostalgic psych-pop, like something Robert Wyatt would cherish. Chilled-out vocals work confidently alongside these melodic flourishes, building well to a soaring series of overlapping vocals around 01:10. The melodic pull is quite evident from that point. A Beatlesesque guitar line around 02:50 adds to a fun conclusion. “Windy Blue” is another strong showing from the Seattle-based artist.

“Windy Blue” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of June 2020’ Spotify playlist.
