Following the impressive Fever EP, featured in March, Jack Boyd returns with another EP in By Your Side. Jangly guitars and playful synths provide opener “Heart Attack” with a catchy feel from the get-go, with further synth-laden expansion at the mid-point adding enjoyable atmosphere. The Austin, TX-based artist shows here and throughout the Fever EP an ability to seamlessly mesh guitars, lush vocals, and spacey synth tones. “Figure It Out” plays with dreamy charm, with a spacious and more nocturnal synth lead alongside mounting, climactic percussion. The self-titled track concludes the EP with a lush electro-folk feel. Mark that as two very successful EPs from Boyd so far in 2020.
