Bed Scene – “American Dream”

/

Impressing last year with the lush and jangly gem “Dulcinea,” Miami-based project Bed Scene succeeds here with the track “American Dream.” Fluid guitars give way to a suave bass bump and vocal lead, with playful synths pulsing in the bridge to the delightful title-referencing chorus, where guitars, synths, and rhythms converge with hooky appeal. A bridge at the two-minute mark also engages as the vocals fade, with guitars and synths dizzying amidst a catching bass line, before the vocals re-emerge to close. Project head Nick Aponte shows excellent production work with the ascension from more understated verses to the chorus, consuming throughout.

“American Dream” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of November 2020’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Indie Pop.
