Brooklyn-based musician Da’Vinci shows a hypnotic electronic sound throughout recent EP Stardust. Opener “Thisside” rides on pulsing effervescence and a steady percussive beat, setting the scene with amiable appeal. Suaver, funk-laden vibes on “Heatnup” strut a more energized sound, while closer “Getdown” shows an eerie, nocturnal beat. These four tracks all do well in showcasing unique soundscapes, maintaining a lush, hypnotic vibe through their differences. I’m looking forward to hearing what’s next from Da’Vinci.
