Chris Kunkel – “Mistaken for Entirely Dead”

//

The closing track off Chris Kunkel‘s new album Waiting to Die, “Mistaken for Entirely Dead” shows a brooding folk sound led by murky guitars and forlorn vocals. The lead sounds aptly weary amidst the slight key-laden backing and acoustical hypnotic glow. Aesthetically, there’s a fond likeness to Red House Painters. “Mistaken for Entirely Dead” captivates with its grunge-tinged vein of folk, certainly — with the haunting textural introduction around 02:25 also standing out in terms of production. The release shows stellar songwriting from the Asbury Park, NJ-based artist.

  1. I might be a bit biased but this album is really good! I like mellow and slightly depressing. Must be in the genes.
