Why Music Is What Pulled Us Through 2020

We had many memorable moments from 2020. Not all of them good, but all of them memorable. Thankfully the music billboards kept track of which songs were in the top ten and which artists – according to them – supplied us with the best songs of 2020. Surely in the year that was 2020 we needed some good music to get us through. Let’s look at the top 5 songs that got us through it.

  1. Cardi B ft Megan Thee Stallion

Good music has in the past been defined as something that never leaves your mind. This can surely be said of 5th place holder ‘WAP’. The song was controversial and the music video imagery did not exactly do much to calm the fires. People either love it or hated it, but everyone was talking about it and how it was definitely not safe for work. Never the less, these two hip hop lionesses made a mark and they did it in their way and on their terms.

  1. Harry Styles

‘Adore You’ by Harry Styles supplied us with a great up beat catchy tune during a time that we needed it most. Styles manages to sing an incredible love song without it being whiney or soppy. Het us know that he will even walk-through fire for his love. He manages to convey is love story in a way that has us bouncing to a great pop tune that will stay with us for many years to come.

  1. Megan Thee Stallion ft. Beyonce

Play this whenever you need it, this was the message that Megan gave her fands when she released this song. It took the world and Tik Tok by storm. The song speaks about owning who you are and accepting the fact that you need to jump to get into your jeans. The tune made us feel good about ourselves and every time we listen to it, we feel strong and in control.

  1. The Weekend

From the moment ‘Blinding Lights’ start to play we are taken back to the 1980’s the song is nostalgic and powerful at the same time. It makes you feel there is nothing that you cannot do. The catchy 80’s tune makes sure that you carry on humming it long after it is done playing. The Weekend struck it gold and the proof is written down for all to see, for all of time.

  1. Lady Gaga & Ariana Grande

The collaboration between Lady Gaga and Arianna Grande is a marvel that leaves us wanting more, similar to when we check this site. The vocal ranges, harmonize beautifully while the video is visually appealing in its bright costumes. The song itself is uplifting and makes you get up from your chair to skip in the rain. The lyrics tell you of the artists own struggles while leaving room for you to insert your own. ‘Rain on Me’ is the 2020 feel good song that we needed.
