Ferdous – “Starlight”

/

The latest release from Afghan-Dutch recording artist, writer and producer Ferdous, “Starlight” touts atmospheric synth-forward production with a nocturnal R&B feel. The track releases alongside a lovely 3D-designed animated video, which Ferdous made himself whilst stuck in the studio. The video’s late-night coloring is a nice fit for the track’s vibes, sporting a ghostly backing synth line, suavely somber vocals, and lush key-laden trickles. The final 30 seconds shows a catching melodic twist, capping things off in satisfying form.

Ferdous has been featured previously with the tracks “Stillness,” Overdrive,” and “Counting Stars.” He is also known as half of pop duo Klyne. Ferdous elaborates more on “Starlight” below:

“While making this song I felt a bit desperate for an escape from myself and everything around me. I retreated to the Belgian countryside just to finish my debut EP in isolation, but there were moments where I would “drift off“ and I felt the need to start something fresh just to get my mind away from reality. That’s kind of how this song came to life, the tone is a bit dark on the surface but for me it felt like a great relief and gave me the escape I needed at that moment in my life.”

“Starlight” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of April 2021’ Spotify playlist.
