Harkness – “The Occasion”

/

Enthusiastic brass and string-laden pulsing flourishes throughout the exciting “The Occasion,” a recent track from Toronto-based artist Harkness, impressing in March with “Tornado.” The brass/string push rides alongside rising vocals, swelling to the satisfying “rise to the occasion,” hook. The track shows a clever twist past the two-minute mark, assuming a suave disposition in a grungy, retro-minded rock vein that leads seamlessly into the original hook. No wonder Roger Manning (Beck/Jellyfish/TLQ) cites Harkness among his new favorite acts.

“The Occasion” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of June 2021’ Spotify playlist.
