DERYK G. – “Damian”

First catching our ear with the eclectic track “Commit” last year, DERYK G. impresses this time with “Damian.” The smooth, title-referencing hook succeeds with a lushly melodic sway, as the ensuing verses entrance with a grungy guitar-laden flicker. Wordless vocals rise atmospherically to the two-minute mark, followed by a satisfying guitar solo. Another stylistically diverse success from DERYK G., “Damian” consumes with a replay-inducing charm.

Deryk elaborates more on the track, below:

“A couple of months ago I came across the name “Damian” and wondered what it meant. Its meaning was to conquer or overcome. Coincidentally, I felt like I needed to overcome an inner battle that I was having with myself most days, which prevented me from getting out of bed. I wrote this song with that in mind and got a catchy hook out of it with some cute lyrics. I have released one single so far for a future project I am currently rolling out, and Damian is the follow-up to its story.”

“Damian” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of August 2021’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Indie Pop.
