Billy Summer – “I Get So Close”

/

“I Get So Close” drives on hypnotic late-night synths and yearning vocals, concocting an intriguing synth-pop sound courtesy of Billy Summer. The Florida-based artist, impressing last year with the track “Fiddle Leaf Fig,” shows a more electronic aesthetic on this release. The structure throughout “I Get So Close” is largely unchanged, adeptly utilizing the atmospheric synths and vocal pairing to leave an impression. “I’ll get so close, then I’ll pull myself back again,” Billy Summer repeats throughout, convincingly relaying the feeling of being on the verge.

“I Get So Close” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of September 2021’ Spotify playlist.
