Dan Friese – “Greener”

//

“Greener” is a moving folk track from Dan Friese, via the Oregon-based artist’s recent album Somewhere Brighter. Gentle piano flourishes emerge alongside solemn acoustics and ardent vocals, aesthetically reminiscent of Tallest Man on Earth. “It’s a fate, that I wanna know,” Friese sings. “It’s a place, that I wanna go.” The piano trickles appear sporadically amidst the steady warm acoustical backbone, adding an emotive chill that enthralls. An atmospheric harmonica addition in the final minutes adds a similarly captivating charm. “Greener” is enjoyably exemplary of Friese’s intimately engaging songwriting and haunting melodic tendencies.
