Fox Fagan – “Gotta Get Out”

/

A thoroughly impressive debut solo single from British artist Fox Fagan, “Gotta Get Out” presents a consuming sound with eclectic forays into psych-rock, chamber-pop, and alternative. The initial gliding piano and guitar buzzing conjure a wintry aesthetic fondly reminiscent of The Walkmen. The “gotta get out of my head,” bridge dazzles with its rock-forward vigor, captivating especially into the gorgeous “don’t get mad, this could be the best you ever had,” hook — touting a chamber-pop whimsy. This minute-long stretch, even on its own, captures Fox Fagan’s knack for hooky melodic movements within an eclectic palate of styles. Fagan is also a member of Los Angeles-based band Teleskopes.

“Gotta Get Out” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of October 2021’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Indie Rock.
