Released today, “Human Bond” is a stylishly understated electro-pop track from Jane Machine. Fronted by songwriter/producer Erica von Trapp, Jane Machine will be releasing an LP, shshshsh, from which “Human Bond” is the first single. Through lyrical contemplation regarding “the nature of human bonds, motivation and compassion within existence,” over lush synth glistens and atmospheric guitar snarls, “Human Bond” crafts an inventive sound. von Trapp’s vocals serene vocals are an apt accompaniment, especially when leading to the murky rhythmic push approaching the two-minute mark. The sporadic rhythmic emphasis interchanges with more delicate sections headlined by vocals and keys, setting a climactically atmospheric tone throughout.
The track’s music video is directed, edited, and filmed by Los Angeles’s KXLU The Witching Hours‘ Marina Aguerre, exploring “the notion of the bond between human, nature, and technology, in a playful and colorful analog-effected wonderland.”
shshshsh was recorded in Joshua Tree, and finished in studio with Johnny Goss in Seattle, WA.
