1st Base Runner – “Near Me”

/

In the newly released music video for 1st Base Runner‘s “Near Me,” a late-night pool hall is the perfect locale. A creeping bass line, trickling guitars, and subdued percussion craft nocturnal mystique, as vocals project a vulnerable yearning — “would you go near me?” The guitar addition around 01:40 adds a post-punk allure, fondly reminiscent of New Order. Visual representation of time passing by, alone with one’s thoughts in a pool hall, engrosses throughout — from dancing ghosts on the table, to floating currency. The video for “Near Me” captures the track’s consuming mood and standout soundscape, a surefire accomplishment from 1st Base Runner and his newly released Ellis EP.

1st Base Runner chatted in more detail about the EP in our interview, here.

This track and others featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of January 2022’ Spotify playlist.
