“Overview Effect” captures a feeling of intrigue and bewilderment, as if starting at earth from the darkness of space. The term means precisely that (“a cognitive shift in awareness reported by some astronauts during spaceflight”), coined by Frank White, and H-zero‘s new track takes inspiration from such. Fittingly, the Italian artist’s track is thoroughly atmospheric. Prancing keys exude a spacey effervescence to start, joined by booming, clanging textures past the 30-second mark. The approach to the two-minute mark dazzles with eerie synth injections and more industrial rhythmic propulsions. Contrastingly, the conclusion comes with a gentle, ethereal flair as the rhythms subside in favor of more orchestral-like components. “Overview Effect” intoxicates with its atmospheric pull.
