Maggie Foley – “Cooties”

//

This type of “Cooties” is contagious; the new track from Maggie Foley is wholly replay-inducing and infectious. Dreamy guitars quickly excel into a bass-heavy bounce alongside charismatic vocals. The rousing chorus touts ample anthemic appeal, especially upon the title-referencing send-off. A slight, dreamy tonal shift in the concluding minutes provides a satiating closure, followed a convincing meshing of dreamy pop and anthemic rock throughout.. Maggie Foley’s “Cooties” showcases consuming songwriting and ardently melodic production.

“I have truly terrible taste in men. I have loved some really terrible men. It feels kind of icky,” Foley says. “The older I get the more I realize ‘cooties’ are a very real thing. I try not to invalidate the feelings I had after knowing the results, so all you can do is make fun of it.”

This track and others featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of February 2022’ Spotify playlist.
