Spanish artist Santa Ana blends psychedelic guitar work, atmospheric synths, and expressive vocal arrangements across Vagío del 62, a debut album that moves between dream-pop, alternative rock, and electronic experimentation. The ten-song conceptual release follows the life of a woman from birth to liberation, bringing a deeply personal dimension to its shifting musical palette. Behind the project is Córdoba-born composer, guitarist, and singer Marta Franco, who began developing the record in 2021.
Album opener “La BIENVENIDA” wastes no time showing the artist’s knack for both stirring atmosphere and melodic power. A crawling, psychedelic guitar line interacts seamlessly with expressive twangs and caressing synths, delightful in its dream-pop and alt-rock synergy. Ensuing track “fruto de mis ENTRAÑAS (una nana)” instead begins with Franco’s gorgeous vocal presence, taking centerstage in becoming gradually accompanied by glistening guitars and warming synths. Multi-layered vocals and rhythmic emergence makes for a climactic appeal, carrying throughout and into a rousing final sequence, where psychedelic guitars, brisker percussion, and spacey synths enthrall.
Another absorbing track, “sobre su VIENTRE” conjures an eerily compelling rock sound, especially striking at the two-minute turn, where the artist’s intensified vocals drive into intense guitar heaviness and a synth-y swell. The charisma on the track is undeniable. Elsewhere, “Atentamente, ÉL” shifts between pop-minded spacious sensibility and stylish rock progressions; the shifts are seamless, and arrive into a ghostly vocal-led procession that ends the track with spine-tingling charm. Vagío del 62 is a thorough achievement of an album from Santa Ana.
