The first in a new run of songs from baseball hat, the project of multi-instrumentalist producer duo Harrison Smith and John Sygar, “PROJECTION #3” wastes no time in captivating with its atmospheric, hypnotic aesthetic. The “can’t keep getting away with this,” vocal refrain lingers amidst gauzy synth pulsations, bursting bass, and sporadic pushes of guitar. A psychedelic tint is fully achieved with a textural, shoegaze-touched pull. The smatterings of guitar approaching the three-minute mark converges with buzzing synths to craft a conclusion with ample momentum, capping off “PROJECTION #3” with an enjoyable vigor.
