Arn-Identified Flying Objects and Alien Friends – “By Your Bed”

A rousing new track from Arn-Identified Flying Objects and Alien Friends, “By Your Bed” recalls the classic songwriting of artists like Jeff Lynne and Paul McCartney. Tender guitars and a warming organ complement opening lyrics with a certain morbidity. “‘I can’t believe it’s time to die,’ I heard you whisper in your sleep,” Arne sings, capturing life’s morose moments. Vocal exultation, melodic guitar shimmers, and a playful rhythm section expand through the chorus, the track’s balancing of retrospective verses and energetic verses enjoyably representative of life’s many twists and turns.

Per Arne, the single is “a testimony of deep sorrow or, more precisely, a song about sitting by a beloved person’s death bed. I wanted the lyrics to be as straightforward as possible here, or even simplistic.”

“By Your Bed” represents the artist’s first release since last year’s double album, 17 Birds at the Summer’s Gate. The track is co-produced by David Myhr, who also provides backing vocals and slide guitar. Andreas Quincy Dahlbäck is playing drums on the track.

This track and others featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of May 2022’ Spotify playlist.
