Darity – “Worth It”

//

“Worth It” is a funky pop delight from Darity, the Nashville-based project of singer/songwriter Linsley Hartenstein. The questioning refrain — “am I worth it to you?” — is adorned by standout production, integrating an assortment of synths, guitars, and strings in a dazzling display. Bearing an enjoyable aesthetic comparison to Men I Trust, “Worth It” builds from lush synths into a funky rhythm section and vintage synths.

The title-referencing refrain signals a hooky rise, the synths glistening and the rhythm section thumping with funk-forward charm. A serene bridge approaches the two-minute turn with charming cohesion, driving seamlessly into the refrain with added guitars and eventual strings. Replay-inducing and melodically riveting, “Worth It” compels throughout.

“Worth It” represents the first of four singles from Darity’s upcoming EP, You Choose What Remains.

This track and others featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of May 2022’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Indie Pop.
