Despondent – “Do You Like It?”

///

Other Girls Too is the debut EP from Minneapolis-based band Despondent, revealing a captivating vein of alt-rock that ranges from murky retrospection to raucously fun distortion. “Do You Like It?” is among the EP’s numerous highlights.

“You’re addicted to the feeling again,” Nora Schlang’s ethereal vocals let out on the track, initially joined by steady percussion and a thick bass line. The drums intensify into raucously enjoyable series of guitars; these guitar tones combine with the riveting vocals for a sound reminiscent of Wolf Alice. The vocals ascend into a tortured yearning during the chorus, with reflective guitar work adding to the invigoration and momentum. “Do You Like It?” is a consuming rocker from Despondent and their stellar EP.

This track and others featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of May 2022’ Spotify playlist.
