Oisin Mod – “Honeycomb”

/

Unveiling a dreamy and contemplative sound, “Honeycomb” is a tranquilly consuming success with haunting qualities. The track represents the debut single of Oisin Mod, an artist from Moycullen, a tiny village on the west coast of Ireland. “Honeycomb” comes from Oisin’s upcoming debut album, also with the title Honeycomb, releasing on August 19th. Both the single and album are produced by Bill-Ryder Jones, formerly of The Coral.

Breezy acoustics and mellow keys complement a reserved vocal presence. A solemn guitar addition appears sporadically, in an atmospheric Twin Peaks-esque vein. The lush, string-laden chorus resonates in its eerie pull and “sha-la-la-la,” closing refrain. Here, I’m reminded fondly of The Clientele’s more serene efforts. This is a stirring success of a debut single from Oisin Mod.
