Adélaide – “Horizon”

/

Stylish synth-pop single “Horizon” comes via Adélaide, the Berlin-based project of French singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Tanguy de la Panouse. Alongside bassist Malte Hager, Panouse crafts a suavely atmospheric synth-driven sound that embraces clever hooks and nighttime drives.

The track’s accessible, melodic pull is apparent quickly. A debonair bass line and understated synths adorn Panouse’s vocals, fittingly suave as well. Effervescent synth tones escalate as the one-minute turn approaches, the vocals retaining a similar sense of cordiality. More fervent is the hooky bridge about a minute later, where Italo-disco synth tones emerge amidst a funky bass hop. “Horizon” is a lovely synth-pop success from Adélaide.

This track and others featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of August 2022’ Spotify playlist.
