Betageist – “Outlier One”

//

Captivating earlier this summer with the Interference Patterns EP, Indiana-based artist Kevin Heber and his Betageist project crafts further instrumental rock engrossment with the newly released single “Outlier One.” Dynamic guitar tones — from dreamy trickles to soaring prog-rock theatrics — drive into spacey synth arps and climactic percussion, making for a moving and cinematic sound.

“It explores the idea that we are an extraordinary anomaly in the visible universe,” Heber says of the track, which is slated to be part of a future EP, and also has a full-length cinematic video forthcoming.

A glistening soundscape appears initially, with sporadic guitar pulses and effervescent synth tones crafting an otherworldly intrigue. A bass-friendly murmuring expands past the first minute, as darkening guitars soar with textural delight. An invigorating second half, with coinciding synth arps and lingering guitar theatrics, makes for a spine-chilling conclusion. “Outlier One” is another standout from Betageist.

This track and others featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of August 2022’ Spotify playlist.
