Sophia Hansen-Knarhoi – “Disguise”

/

The riveting “Disguise” is the debut single from Australian artist Sophia Hansen-Knarhoi. “I tend to simplify solidarity to its core,” she sings to open, amidst a haunting wordless vocal accompaniment. The initial absence of instrumentation highlights the powerful lyrical and vocal prowess, accompanied gracefully by ruminating percussion and guitar trickles thereafter.

“I’ll take my time again to feel everything in full,” Hansen-Knarhoi continues as the track escalates, into a gorgeous arsenal of brassy resonance and invigorating vocal passion. Atmospherically reminiscent of a cross between Destroyer and Marissa Nadler, “Disguise” is a wholly moving debut from Sophia Hansen-Knarhoi.

This track and others featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of September 2022’ Spotify playlist.
