Yaris Paris – “LMK”

/

Vancouver-based artist Yaris Paris delivers a bouncy synth-pop charm throughout “LMK,” a grooving success. Warm synth pulses and plucky reflective bass complement a spacious vocal presence, exuding a yearning in “waiting for your love.”

Aesthetically, I’m fondly reminded of a cross between MGMT’s more recent synth-poppy efforts and Hot Chip’s tightly-tuned pop. The former’s likeness is enjoyably present in the vocals distancing from the bouncier synth-forward assortment, past the first minute. Guitar additions in the finale add enjoyably to the irresistible production. “LMK” is a comfortably inviting synth-pop success from LMK.

The artist elaborates on the track:

“One of the biggest hurdles in relationships is balancing the experience of growing together and separately in simultaneity. On “LMK”, a dreamy-synth-pop tune, I share my experience of going through life changing events and noticing the impacts on my relationship. The resulting song is my most happy/sad song to date, as the melancholic chord progression pulsates throughout the song. The conclusion, is that there is no perfect approach for this challenge, but communication is key, and we must remain hopeful our partners will “let us know.””

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of November 2022’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Electro-Pop.
