Frank Joshua – “What Price a Smile”

/

Captivating earlier this year with the album Sense Life, London-based artist Frank Joshua reveals further with the evolving dance-pop success “What Price a Smile.” Representing the prolific artist’s 19th release in two years, “What Price a Smile” is the first single from the upcoming Talk of Things, Joshua’s second album, releasing in January.

Alongside resonating lyrics that explore “the sadness of miscommunication and the deliberately obtuse,” the track’s dynamic production enamors with a multitude of consuming shifts. A spacious, melancholic synth backing during the “what exactly is the point?” refrain showcases the production’s lushly atmospheric gravitation, while the subsequent section moves swiftly into a dance-forward infectiousness with stabbing synth energy and perky percussion.

Showing a savvy and melodic fusing of dance and pop aspects, “What Price a Smile” is another success from Frank Joshua, whose upcoming album Talk of Things is one I’m anticipating.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of December 2022’ Spotify playlist.
