Holy Wire – “Dream”

//

Its synth-pop and new-wave nostalgia shimmering with melodic charm, “Dream” is a new single from Holy Wire, the project of Austin-based artist Alain Paradis. Mellow vocals mesh tightly with the peppy rhythmic pulse, recalling an Italo-disco intent with the reflective synths alongside. The culminating “all that I can dream of,” rise plays with satiating qualities, inducing replays with its amiable throwback aesthetic.

The artist describes the track as “about the conflict of feelings as fantasy becomes reality, and the sense of alarm as shared fantasy turns to feelings of exclusion.”

“Holy Wire” was was produced by Abe Seiferth (Yeasayer, Nation of Language, Guerilla Toss) and mastered by Joe Lambert (LCD Soundsystem, Deerhunter, Panda Bear), with artwork by Nathaniel Young (Dais Records, Drab Majesty).

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of December 2022’ Spotify playlist.
