Jesse Blake Rundle – “Fire”

/

“Fire” is a rousing track from Jesse Blake Rundle, an artist based in Boise, Idaho. The opener on his upcoming sophomore album Next Town’s Trees, “Fire” plays like an ambitious table-setter in its strong lyrical imagery and expansive production, featuring horns and synths alongside acoustics and vibrant vocals.

Ruminating acoustics and blaring horns provide a warming accompaniment to the opening lyrics, reflecting how “another day is done.” The guitars escalate steadily alongside imagery of fire burning and ashes/embers “falling and widening.” The “we had it all,” refrain plays with poignant mourning and retrospection, reflecting on better times and general appreciation.

Rundle was featured previously with his riveting Radishes and Flowers LP.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of December 2022’ Spotify playlist.
