MT Vice – “blue boy”

//

Nashville act MT Vice craft an engaging sound fusing dream-pop and jangly rock, exhibited on their latest track “blue boy.” The band describe the track, which was recorded at home in east Nashville, as “inspired by adolescent dreams of leaving your hometown and driving off into the abyss.”

The track’s lyrics aptly capture the feeling of suffocation a hometown can result in. “This place was always wrong to begin with, suburbs so small like a teetering cliff,” the vocals let out to start the second series of verses, enamoring alongside brisk and jangly guitars. A dreamy submergence past the two-minute turn shows a lush allure, culminating in the peppy and jangly charm of the initial showing to close things out.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of December 2022’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Indie Rock.
