Dressed – “Media Wasteland”

/

A jangly rock standout described as “an anthem for the overstimulated,” “Media Wasteland” is a recent single from Los Angeles-based band Dressed. A warm, jangly array of guitars opens the production with hypnotically caressing charm. “Sleepless, I’ve been wasting all this time,” a soaring vocal serenity follows, bolstered by steady bass pulses and airy guitar tones.

An escalated, grimy distortion underlies as the “so I follow them” bridge hits. Gorgeous backing vocal harmonies then delight in the title-touting hook, replay-inducing in its overall melodic direction and differentiation from the heavier bridge. Further entrancement arrives around the three-minute turn, when psychedelic guitar additions carrying into a satisfying reprisal of the chorus. “Media Wasteland” is a fantastic showing from Dressed.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
