Deepest Bison – “I Need a Calling”

//

“I Need a Calling” is a resonating track from Minnesota-based artist Deepest Bison, the project of Kyle Imes. Via the recent album Low Impulse Imagined, the track presents a hypnotic folk sound with spirited vocals and an exhilarating central rise. The ghostly vocal effect approaching the one-minute turn plays with chilling effect, surrounded by rollicking acoustics and lyrics that reflect on “a perfect world,” and “common days,” alike. A loose-fitting guitar wandering closes the track out with enjoyably capricious allure, finalizing with a thumping bass.

“I Need a Calling” and this album in general represent continued success from Deepest Bison, whose 2019 album, Ghost Planet, was one of our favorites that year.
