Hip-hop collective L.O.V.E Culture balance lush beats with powerful vocal entrancement throughout their new single “Playas Ball.” The Florida-based five-piece excel with a melodic and atmospheric hip-hop sound, citing influences like Flatbush Zombies, Brockhampton, Earthgang, Little Brother, and The Fugees.

Produced by frostthewavegod between two Jacksonville-based studios, “Playas Ball” succeeds in the collective’s aim to make a “super fun, hard hitting and catchy track.” They describe the effort as “about how we cohesively continue to get better over time and we are out here still kicking flavor in your ears.”

The initial contrast of charismatic vocals and a late-night, brass-hinted beat makes for ample intrigue — furthered when the second vocal entry assumes an intense, rhythmically precise enamoring. “Playas Ball” is a consuming showcase of each MC’s precise vocal abilities, strutting their own tonal personalities. “Playas Ball” satiates with a nostalgic soundscape and commanding vocal performances withinthe compelling production.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of January 2023’ Spotify playlist.
