BARANS – “Perspective”

/

Complete with intriguing spoken-word samples and flashes of cinematic-style strings, “Perspective” is a stylish rock instrumental from BARANS. The duo of songwriter/guitarist Joe Barans and drummer Jonathan Bresar put on charismatic live performances and idea-abundant studio work alike, with their tendency for atmospheric, stimulating compositions evident with “Perspective.”

“Perspective” weaves eerie keys and a motivational vocal ferocity — “it’s you, man, what’s inside you!” — into pulsing rock guitars and mystique-filled strings. “Nobody knows it ’til you’re on the outside,” the vocal lets out, with the halted strings and perky percussion continuing the climactic, somewhat anxious feeling. The twangy guitars and ghostly choir feeling lead into a delectable finale. “Perspective” is full of riveting fascination.

Check out the track’s music video below. Per Barans, it was “shot in black and white, inside an empty theater built in the 1920s, the video features abstract imagery in conjunction with our performance.”

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of March 2023’ Spotify playlist.
