Geoff Gibbons – “Feet Out the Window”

//

An endearing track full of heartfelt yearning, “Feet Out the Window” is the latest from Vancouver-based singer/songwriter Geoff Gibbons. “The song was born after a conversation with a friend who had recently gone through a tough marriage break up… wishing to remember his former partner in the best of their time together,” Gibbons explains.

“Your feet out the window, yes that’s what I miss,” the vocals yearn. Further lyrical sentiments express not a bitterness, but something else — a more reassured sense of nostalgia, looking on brighter days as the sun shines down on a joy ride shared with the one you love. The frolicking acoustics and twangy bursts remind aesthetically of Damien Jurado, while the steady vocals conjure a more classic country/Americana presence that melds beautifully within the retrospective longing conveyed in the lyrics and soundscape.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of April 2023’ Spotify playlist.
