The Richmond District – “Restless At Rossi”

/

Intertwining nostalgic rock and peppy power-pop, “Restless At Rossi” is a fun track from The Richmond District, the Los Angeles-based project of guitarist/songwriter Pat Moley. Well-known for his excellent live performances around the Los Angeles scene even prior to forming this project, The Richmond District finds Moley embracing a solo sound that channels his impassioned live energy.

Citing a heavy influence from The Who, “Restless At Rossi” invigorates with a wordless vocal excitement to kick things off. Suave guitar licks and steady percussion glide into the first verses, with the “you were just at the start,” vibrancy kickstarting an enamoring sequence with backing vocals exuding a power-pop charm. Organs and psych-friendly vocal reflections mark a notable hook, traversing back seamlessly into the guitar-fronted peppiness thereafter. “Restless At Rossi” is exemplary of Moley’s compelling songwriting and rock savy.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of April 2023’ Spotify playlist.
