John Moran – “Tambourine (My Love)”

//

The warmly nostalgic “Tambourine (My Love)” is a delightful single from John Moran, who recorded the effort on an 8-track reel to reel. Understated guitar twangs enamor alongside lyrics that confess “nobody does it like my love,” gliding into a devastatingly beautiful chorus. “When we’re not together, the world is wrong,” he sings amidst dreamy flutes, emitting an irresistible glow.

“My love shakes like a tambourine, sweeter than cherry or tangerine,” Moran continues in the next verse, guiding again into the effervescent, throwback charm of the central hook. As cricket-chirping emanates as the track concludes, its lingering sense of comfort and ressurance is evident, and the melody proves wholly replay-inducing with its no-frills, nostalgic engrossment.

The artist is based in St. John’s, the capital city of Newfoundland and Labrador.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of May 2023’ Spotify playlist.

We discovered this release via MusoSoup, as part of the artist’s promotional campaign.
