Duke Keats – ‘Dirty Glamour’ EP

//

Hailing from Coventry, UK, moody rock act Duke Keats impress with their Dirty Glamour EP, released today. Opener “Skid Row” showcases their expressive sound, ripe with darkening saxophones and hazy guitar twangs. Creaky guitars and a gentle bass line drive into brassy adornments, aptly exuding a glamorous feeling as the vocals open with the words “Sunset Boulevard, Hollywood megastar.” The subsequent “Again” enamors with a like-minded arsenal, referencing nocturnal and Kubrick-ian visions alongside.

A sludgy, more contemplative tone within “Fairground” swells into debonair vocal touches and an eventual embrace of seductive guitar wails. The track’s mood is palpable; the steady rhythm section and electrifying guitar evolution makes for an enthralling production. Epic finale “Damn Dara” struts a post-punk rhythmic pulse amidst eerie saxophones, making for a fitting send-off to the stellar EP.

“Skid Row” and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of June 2023’ Spotify playlist.
