rx1f – “astronauts”

/

“astronauts” is the latest synth-pop success from Vancouver-based artist rx1f, who caught our ears in February with the track “how to defeat gravity and achieve escape velocity.”

Described as “a song for fellow space-nerds,” the chirpy synths and suave bass throbs form a hypnotic pull. “Children stop and stare in the middle of the street,” the opening vocals proclaim, set against a nocturnal dose of synths. Reference’s to the day’s clarity meshes with the dark, spacey soundscape, maintaining an atmospheric engrossment amidst the chipper lead synth line. Alternating with captivation amidst the climactic verses and upbeat-sounding hook, “astronauts” is another standout synth-driven pop showing from rx1f.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of June 2023’ Spotify playlist.
