Almond Milk – “Jealousy”

/

Hong Kong-based band Almond Milk craft a smoothly gripping sound on “Jealousy,” emitting a pop sophistication with a yearning croon amidst reflections on emerging from bouts of jealousy.

Glistening keys and jangly guitars complement a melodic vocal presence, playing well within a throwback production reminding fondly of a cross between The Strokes and Todd Rundgren. “Jealousy, it don’t make it easy for me,” stretches into an understated, funk-laden “need some slack,” admittance, as prickly synth bubbling leads the catching “all around me,” refrain. “Jealousy” is a catching rock showing from Almond Milk.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of July 2023’ Spotify playlist.
