Carousels – “Get Enough (Can’t Get Enough)”

/

Copenhagen-based band Carousels charm with a lushly melodic pop enamoring on new single “Get Enough (Can’t Get Enough),” whose title-bearing chorus exudes a compelling yearning amidst its dreamy synths and ensuing guitar jangles. Elements of soul and psychedelia intertwine within the hook-minded production; bouncy bass and wordless vocal harmonizing adorn the serene verses, while the title-based refrain hooks with a charismatic pop energy.

“Get Enough (Can’t Get Enough)” took initial inspiration from “British lovers rock” of the ’70s, exemplified by artists like Janet Key and Louisa Mark. The track was later revised by Canadian singer/songwriter Matthew Walko (who formed Carousels in 2022), into a more modern, grooving pop-centric sound that retains some lovers’ rock spirit within the vocals.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of July 2023’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Indie Pop.
