Cautionary Tales – “Falling”

/

“Falling” is another riveting single from Cautionary Tales‘ upcoming debut album, out on August 18th. The art-rock project, based in Berlin via Aotearoa and NYC, impressed with “No Funeral Blues” in May and “Women” last month.

The track’s piercing vocal tone and poetic lyrical imagery prove stirring amidst the stylish art-rock arsenal, with shades of Nick Cave. “Into the fire they fed your remains,” the vocals quiver during a haunting sequence, where shimmering keys and sharp-cutting guitars concoct a dreamy immersion. Distortion-ready vigor embraces at the three-minute turn, adding intensity into a second half that culminates into lush guitar trickles and warbled finale effect. “Falling” is riveting in its entirety, maintaining our firm anticipation for the upcoming full-length.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of July 2023’ Spotify playlist.
