Goldie Scott – “Sea Of Love”

/

“Sea Of Love” is a throwback pop delight from Goldie Scott, an artist from Marlboro, New Jersey. Doo-wop and classic soul-rock inspirations combine with Scott’s riveting and dynamic vocals, spanning from the yearning understated verses into the punchy, emotional chorus. The track’s title refrain plays with a powerfully climactic pull into the second minute, and the ensuing organ-laden “I’ll be your lady,” chorus.

The single is described as encapsulating “the butterflies and rollercoaster of emotions when a lifelong friendship turns into a deep romance.” The verses strut a doo-wop nostalgia that meshes wonderfully with lyrics reflecting doubt in regards to taking the next step: “I’m in and out these waves of doubt are washing over me,” she sings, with the oceanic imagery reinforced further in the excellent lyric video (above). “Sea Of Love” is a charismatic success from Goldie Scott.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of July 2023’ Spotify playlist.

We discovered this release via MusoSoup, as part of the artist’s promotional campaign.
