Franklyn – “Be Cool”

Its suavely dark rock sound mesmerizing in a stylishly hooky vein, reminiscent of Yves Tumor, “Be Cool” is a standout single from Tampa-based artist Franklyn.

The lead single for the artist’s upcoming debut album M, the track pleads “just be cool and be my baby,” amidst spirited guitar pulses and a range of vocal charisma, from the higher-pitched enthusiasm of this stellar hook to the more contemplative, debonair verses. The “you’re love is not my kind of love,” bridge also excels with its synth-touched flair. “Be Cool” is an addictive, replay-inducing success from Franklyn.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of August 2023’ Spotify playlist.
