Livingmore – “Places”

//

Bridging atmospheric dream-pop with a ’90s alt-rock nostalgia, “Places” is a new single from Los Angeles-based band Livingmore. The stellar track represents the first single from Livingmore’s upcoming album The Garden, produced by Jeff Schroeder (The Smashing Pumpkins). The album also features bassist Emily Retsas (Phoebe Bridgers, Boygenius). Look for its release in early 2024.

“Places” captivates with its hypnotic multi-layered vocal work and satiating instrumentation. The “in this moment,” vocal sequence touts a stirring effervescence in its backing synths and lyrical reassurances, emphasizing the value of staying in the present. The twangy, sporadic guitar touches build with momentum to the dreamily caressing chorus, traversing with seamlessly melodic allure. The track is a showcase of Schroeder’s tactful production alongside the band’s clear melodic and atmospheric rock strengths.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of August 2023’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Dream-Pop.
