The Dawn Phenomenon – “On the Nash”

Described as “about floating through the universe with your lover,” and certainly achieving that emotion with its dazed engrossment, “On the Nash” is a new single from The Dawn Phenomenon. The band is fronted by Dylan Donkin, the former lead singer and guitarist of Echobrain (which featured ex-Metallica bassist Jason Newsted).

Gentle guitar strums traverse into lyrics reflecting a cosmic journey — “we’re sinking fast,” — with the “in the deep of space,” setting establishment coinciding with chilly keys. “Drifting in between,” they continue, as ghostly vocals prove reflective of the dream-like, otherworldly state — “beyond reality.” The mid-point stirs with its spacey synth illumination, adding consuming textural engrossment alongside the already-captivating soundscape. “On the Nash” is a riveting production from The Dawn Phenomenon.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of August 2023’ Spotify playlist.
