The Bergamot – “Roll It Up”

/

Another enamoring single from The Bergamot, “Roll It Up” seizes onto the waning days of summer amidst a melodic fusing of bright pop and heartfelt folk. “It’s just you and me,” the duo of Nathaniel Paul and Jillian Speece sing, escalating into a more excitable pace before laying back again into the “feel that sunshine,” caressing. The duo, who met in high school in 2004 and have been creating music together since 2012, continue their string of successes with “Roll It Up.”

They describe the single as “about taking some time away to be in the place you love.” The duo elaborate: “We both love tracks that sweep you away. Two artists that we love are Bob Marley and Jimmy Buffett. We loved how they had great songs about beach life. We wanted to do homage to them in this tune taking people on a little beach getaway.”

This song is the first single released by The Bergamot since Variety announced the sale of VOD rights to their film “State of the Unity” to Freestyle Digital Media. Look for the film to release on October 6th.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of September 2023’ Spotify playlist.
