The Vigilante – “Lost & Found”

/

Atlanta-based solo artist The Vigilante struts a heartfelt electro-pop soaring on new single “Lost & Found.” Per the artist, the release “is based on the kids of the foster system and other children who are lost in this world searching for their place.”

Calming water splashes and a stutter-y synth pad assemble a hypnotic embrace to start, complemented by wordless vocal reflections. The climactic, otherworldly soundscape here reminds of Oneohtrix Point Never. The vocals’ reveal is accompanied by twinkling, playful keys, launching the track into a more electro-tinted pop allure. “Everything was just so simple,” they let out, hearkening back to childhood.

The “lost,” soaring vocal sequence proves especially compelling; its emotional vocal ferocity meshes with a calming, aquatic-feeling synth backing and driving electro-percussion momentum. “Lost & Found” is a powerful success from The Vigilante, showcasing an intriguing pop production with thematic heart.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of September 2023’ Spotify playlist.
